Be carefull with this nailer
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Once I received this nailer from Amazon, I fully charged the battery and started using it. After 10 minutes, nailer’s lower battery light is on. I charged again, but same result which I had to return it.

Small service battery & lesser over time.
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The 18v battery does not work very long – like 50 nails and decreasing before the battery needs to be recharged. If the battery lasted longer this would be better for casual homeowner doing limited construction work. It is unsuitable for extended work or for a professional. I have used it to nail less than 1000 nails.
There is no way to know when the battery will need recharging. It just stops nailing and the red light comes on to let you know the battery needs to be recharged.
It works very well when the battery is fully charged. The battery is nailing less and less nails before it needs to be recharged. I read on the Black and Decker website the battery does not have a memory problem but that is not right.
It is much better than the 12V Black and Decker nailer. The 12V nailer does not have enough nailing power to consistently drive the nails in completely. You are left with the nail partially driven in. The 12V unit also has a kickback and the nails do not go in all the way. The low life 12v battery sucks too. The 18v nailer nails better than the 12V nailer and does it with more positive nailing power.
The 18V nailer has the partially driven nail problem if you do not carefully hold the nailer down or when the battery gets low.
The 18V nailer is heavy. The size makes it hard to get into tight spaces. An angled nailer would be better.
If I could do it all over again I would get the 18V DeWalt nailer with the Lithiom Ion battery. Get the angle nailer to get into the tight spaces.

Works well for small projects to hold wood while gluing and setting small crews. Drives up to 1.5 inch brad with ample force.

Greatly missed !!

I bought the combo package at Lowe’s a few yrs ago, paid 200 bucks for it. I used it extensively at home and at work. I shot literally 1000′s of brads from 5/8ths to 2″ in all wood hardnesses. Worked fantastic firing mechanism broke I took the broken pc’s out of the inside of the gun, and it worked on half a firing mechanism for the last year. I am in the glass trade and have installed 100′s of lites of glass in doors that have wood stops and low noise and nonmarring tip a winning combo. I am in the process of getting a new one and having my place of employment pay for it. We have other nailers at work and mine was by far the best. Ron Lefebvre Belchertown,Ma.

Does not last
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This nailer came with a 6 piece set cast about $150.00. I did not have a use for it for 2 years and got to run s sleeve of nails through and it broke and the part to fix it costs as much as the 12 volt nailer.
I will not buy it. I did like it as long as it lasted. I have all 18 volt tools and will not get a 12 volt system to replace it.

Delight in it while it lasts
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I wrote a review for the 12V very similar unit. This product has fantastic potential, but is very light duty. It fails either by jamming every other nail or the spring retraction mechanism malfunctions.
I would estimate a life of between 1000-2000 firings before it breaks. This is assuming you get a “excellent” unit. Most will never use it this much, so they may get away with it.
If you have to do flooring and and need to pull up the baseboards and then reattach, this will probably do the trick. Maybe a chair rail. Beyond that know that this tool will probably fail. I had a bunch of them and they all went back due to issues.
I’m giving it 2 stars because they should tell people it is for occasional use and its not a excellent fit for the price. This tool cost nearly $200 when I bought it, but the excellent point is the company had no problem refunding my money when it broke. They couldn’t even repair it.. I wanted to keep the tool! I also treated it well and it was never dropped. After 1200 nails the tool looked new.
Forget repairing it, after the warranty, the assembly cost over $100 [..](entire guts gets changed), and no warranty if you DIY. This is a disposable tool.
Its a shame how these Chinese tools are expensive, low quality, and virtually disposable. They probably cost next to nothing to make, and they figure many will just use it a few times and never have an issue.

Can’t live without it now.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I just got this nailer, and now I don’t know how I did without it! It’s not available on Amazon at this time, so I had to get it on a well known auction website. This nailer works fantastic for my around the house trim upgrading projects (of which I have many). It loads easily, doesn’t fire too loudly (it wasn’t loud at all especially compared to nail guns powered by an air compressor), and it doesn’t leave a mark on the wood surface other than the small hole where the nail passed thru. This nailer obviously wasn’t designed for major framing type jobs, but for trimming jobs it’s perfect! I can’t wait to start my next project just so I can use this gun more!!! It’s sweeeeeeeeeeet!!!!

fantastic for what it is intended for
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Granted, I haven’t used this nailer heavily, so far it has been excellent. It’s kind of light weight so I don’t know how it would hold up for daily use, but is seems generally well built, not cheap toy-like plastic like some of the other firestorm tools. No jams, but I’ve taken other users recommendations and always use a fresh battery. Maybe that’s the trick. I’ve nailed through all kinds of molding, including the 2 inch nails through 1 inch brick mold, which is usually a honestly hard wood. It always nails all the way in with out problems as long as you are shooting straight and not nailing at an odd angle.
It shoots up to 2 inch 18 gauge nails, which are plenty adequate for most light wood work and any kind of trim mold. Certainly I wouldn’t try to frame up anything with this tool. That’s not what it is made for. It is more convenient than an air powered gun. It kind of “winds up” when you pull the trigger before it shoots, unlike an air nailer, so you have to get used to that. I like not having drag a cord or hose nor hook up a hose and start a compressor like you would an air powered gun. For the weekender, not having to invest in a compressor that you’d seldom use is a huge plus. And for those of us not so mechanically inclined, it’s way better that wearing yourself out swinging a hammer and marring up your wood. For just over a hundred bucks it’s well worth the price. It’s even a better buy if you have any of the firestorm tools where you can interchange the batteries.

Cordless nailer
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Cordless feature is very convenient; 18-volt model can drive 2″ nails into softwoods easily. Model that is included with the kit has only one depth stop (as indicated on Black and Decker website although individual model on that site shows 2 depth stops). Although there is a slight time lag between triggering and firing, it becomes less annoying with frequent use. Batteries are interchangeable with other Black and Decker 18-volt products. The slide-in batteries are more secure against vibration than other products with a stem-type plug-in battery.

So far so excellent
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was really looking for a cordless nailer that can help me get some house jobs done. I stumbled upon this firestorm nailer from B&D at Amazon. With the reviews it was getting, I was kinda leary to buy the product but finally I chose to get one and was amazed how quick they shipped it. I got it the following day I ordered it! Next day delivery and free! Can’t beat that! So to speak, I tried it and works fantastic for my home projects, so far. I like it and makes my work simpler. Too terrible that not all got pleased with it according to their expectation.

B&D Cordless 18v Nailer
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Wonderful tool for small detail work. I used it on the detail work when I remodeled my kitchen. It performed like a champ. Amazon shipped it the same day as my order and had it in two days. It comes with every thing you need to get started. Carrying case, sample brads, charger, and a list of compatible brads from other companies. A fantastic tool for a fantastic price.

Poor Craftmanship
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I like to consider myself some what of an expert on B&D Firestorm products. I own just about all the tools from the line and am honestly pleased with the performance and price of them. I’ve written quite a few reviews, most positive. But, this is the worst Firestorm buy I’ve ever made. Straight out of the box I loaded the unit with the manufacture recommended brad nails. It fired fine on the first shot then jammed. I cleared the jam, then fired again. It jammed again, I tried a third time, then forth and so on. It continued to jam every time. I took the unit back to Lowe’s and got another one…same thing happened with the second nail gun. Even the experts at Lowe’s couldn’t get this to fire a second nail. They tried for half an hour different things but no luck. This is why I know it wasn’t just me. I was very surprised to see B&D come out with a product that simply did not work. At the time I paid $200 for this, I’m sure by now the price has come down drastically. Even so, it’s not worth more than $20. I’m sorry to say but you are definitly better off with another brand.

Mixed Results With B&D Battery Powered Tools
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This may or may not be a excellent deal but I would be wary of B&D power tools because I’ve had mixed results with their products. I recently bought 3 sets of cordless shears from them and the NiCd batteries failed on one of them in less than a month of casual use. Experience tells me that a 3 star rating is about right for a tool like this one. Also, the specs don’t say what they mean by a ‘full range of 18-guage nails’??? By the way, my qualifications for reviewing this product are: I am a General Contractor, Woodworker/Cabinet Maker and a Sculptor. I was the lead builder of the Burningman Icon for 14 years until I retired as the Senior Builder of the Man in 2003.
