EXCELLENT PRODUCT, BUT BEING A NOVICE, THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE NOT CLEAR AS TO THE SETTINGS. TWO ALLEN WRENCHES, BUT HOW AND WHEN DO YOU SET THE TOOL. IT WORKS FANTASTIC, BUT, AND NOW I COULD’NT DO WITHOUT IT.

Qoute from a tools of the trade magazine, sorry to hear this…I hope this isn’t right…

As a product line footnote, Milwaukee is discontinuing their line of pneumatic nailers in the US. This go is part of their increasing focus on tools made for their core trades users. You heard it here first.

Brilliant but the nose foot print is a bit too huge
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The tool is very excellent. So far I fired about 2500 nails without a problem. My only criticism is the size of the nose bumper that prevents a close side (toe) nailing. In that regard I should have bought the Hitachi for the same price in Amazon which has a smaller nose and permits a closer toe nailing. I hope Milkwaukee reads that comment and provides a smaller replacement for the nose bumper of that otherwise brilliant gun.

I own five different guns made by the company (huge framing, 18 gage, 16 gage, roofing and the 15 gage) and I am delighted by the reliability of these tools.

    Not fantastic for hardwood flooring.
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This nail gun seems very well made. I have owned it for a small over a year now and have had no jams. The selector switch to switch from single fire to bump fire is one of the reasons I tried this gun. It works fantastic. I also like that the guns won’t let you dry fire it when you are out of nails. For most uses this gun would work fantastic. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because I use it to nail hardwood floors and it is very sensitive, it must be place in just the right angle to get the nose to let the gun fire. I have to readjust the nose multiple times before it fires. I have the DeWalt version and it is not as sensitive. I really prefer the DeWalt gun except for the trigger which can’t be changed easily and it doesn’t have a dry fire limiter. I also have the Senco and my favorite is the DeWalt.

    End Nail Gun
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This nail gun has a real nice feel, the weight is low and it is simple to load. I was able to get senco nails at Lowes, really like the 15 gauge nails and the angle helps to get into tight places. I received very quick service from amazon.

    Happynailer
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this nailer having bought and successfully used a Milwaukee framing nailer a few months earlier. This end nailer is brilliant for the home handyman as well as the professional builder. It is light weight and simple to use. I couldn’t have gotten a better end nailer at this price. I would recommend this end nailer to anyone considering buy of this type nailer.

This is a sweet gun!!! Milwaukee makes the best tools for my money and no other tool maker gives a 5 year warranty. If they will stand behind a tool they make for 5 years knowing how guys like me are gonna treat it… Milwaukee has a loyal customer for life.

    Just what I needed
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this product mainly to frame a patio door. I am not excellent with a hammer so this was exactly what I needed. It worked perfect right out of the box. No hammer marks on the inside trim, my wife was very pleased. It propably saved me at least one hour time over useing a hammer. I can’t find Milwaukee nais but others have said most other brands of angle nails will work fine. Looking forward to my next project. I would definately recommed this product.

    Fantastic deal.
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Even though this is my first, I reckon that this is an brilliant nail gun; fantastic price, too. I was hesitant at first, because one reviewer said that it did not do toe molding. Bought it anyway, and was pleasantly surprised. To install the quart round, all I did was turn the gun upside down.

It fires flawlessly. For safety reasons, I only fired single shot. It placed the head just below the surface. The tool is lightweight, and comfortable to grasp. It came with a nice case, a small bottle of oil, and about a thousand nails.

    Can’t Toe-Nail!
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Everything is swell about this except the safety foot, which prents toe-nailing. My cheapo Harbor Freight gun has the safety built into the nose of the gun, allowing you to fire at an angle.

    Another Quality Milwaukee Tool
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This review is for the Milwaukee 7140-21 15 gauge Angled End Nailer.

The package contents are: a plastic case, the 7140-21 nailer, a bottle of air tool oil(appears to be about 2 ounces), a pair of safety glasses, two allen wrenches (4mm and 5mm), a box of 1,000 2″ 15 gauge bright end nails, a warranty card, and the instruction manual.

**This item does not come with a required 3/8″ male air hose coupler, so make sure you pick one up. Or if you are like me pick up a 3/8″ to 1/4″ coupler adapter, as I only have a 1/4″ air hose setup.**

    The Plastic Case:

The case is a very nice heavy duty plastic carrying case which holds all of the contents with a perfect fit and keeps closed tightly with two heavy duty metal locking hinges. It also has a built in plastic handle to easily carry the case and contents around.

    The Nail Gun:

The 7140-21 has a fantastic quality feel to it, like most Milwaukee tools do. It is also very light at only 4.2 pounds. It is made up of magnesium (body), plastic (nail magazine), rubber (grips), and steel (nail feeder and barrel). This nailer shoots 1″ to 2.5″ 15 gauge nails with a 34 degree collation angle as per manufacturers specifications. It also carries 106 nails in the magazine so you can shoot nails for a long time before adding more. There are some other nice features built into this nailer. The first is a simple tool less nail depth adjustment knob to quickly change the depth of the nail drive. Another feature is a 2 way switch which can: change the trigger into either single sequential actuation mode or into contact actuation mode. This means you can either shoot one nail at a time by pressing the trigger when the workpiece contact is depressed(single sequential actuation) or hold the trigger down and every time you depress the workpiece contact a nail is fired(contact actuation). Another feature is a swivel thick plastic belt clip to hang the nail gun on your belt or pant pocket or whatever when it is not in use. The nail gun also has a nice exhaust feature in which the exhaust cover can turn 360 degrees so you don’t have to have compressed air blown in your face. Finally the nailer has a fantastic designed non-marring pad which goes on the workpiece contact and even has an extra one stored on the magazine in case you lose the one that is on the tool.

    The Bottle of Oil:

2 ounces of your basic bottle of air tool oil. More than enough for a small job. Remember to oil your tool several drops before and after every use and it will extend the life of your air tool.

    The Safety Glasses:

A clear pair of safety glasses, but I prefer my Ztek clear tinted safety glasses though for all my work.

    The Allen Wrenches:

Your basic 4mm and 5mm allen wrenches. Use them to tighten the screws that hold the tool together if they become loose or you can take the tool apart if you need to work on the tool. They are simple to replace though if lost.

    The Nails:

1,000 15 gauge 2″ bright end nails. Cover them up or they will rust.

    The Warranty Card:

Its just a warranty card and registration to become a member of the Heavy Duty Club (Whoopdie Doo!!!). Send it in if you want the warranty or to become a Heavy Duty Club member. I never do though.

    The Instruction Manual:

The most vital thing to do is read this before you start using your tool.

    Conclusion:

I bought this nailer to install some 3/4″ ponderosa pine craftsman style trim I had made for a huge project I was working on. I figured the 15 gauge would hold it better than 16 gauge, plus the nailer was on sale when I bought it and I’ve never had a Milwaukee tool that wasn’t first rate quality. This nailer is no exception. This nailer performed absolutely flawlessly for me. It did not mar the wood at all in ponderosa pine(an extremely soft wood). It countersunk all the nails I shot with it unless I hit a drywall screw or a nail in the framing(only happened twice). The nailer just feels like a quality tool when you use it and if something were to happen to it I would certainly buy another one.

My only beef with it could be that it has a 3/8″ NPT air inlet instead of a more common 1/4″ one. Other than that I would highly recommend this nailer.

    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Received the nailer for what I thought was a honest price. Attached coupler (not provided & hard to find 3/8″ MIP) and fired two nails in a piece of scrap to make certain gun was OK. Weeks later when I needed the nailer I got one nail in a piece of trim and the tool was inoperative. Customer service gave me a few thoughts to try (none of which worked) and then told me to take to a factory authorized repair facility. That was over a week ago and have not heard from them. I gave it a One Star for the nice carrying case that it comes in.

    Fantastic Gun
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The small gun that could! I have fired thousands of nails through this thing and still can’t complain. Simplest depth adjustment I have seen. Most others have tiny small nuts to turn you can barely see. Hook is fantastic when standing on a ladder or plank. The only thing I don’t like is when it gets low on nails it will not fire the rest until you load more.

Did a lot of research on this product. Mostly reading reviews and going to the OEM website. So, I thought I would help others contemplating buying this unit. It works fantastic! Sound buy.

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This thing is the best. It is light, clearly well manufactured and does the job. Have only used it for one project, but it is fantastic. Especially if you wait on Amazon for the price to drop, as it occassionally does to less than $100, then it is a steal.

    Highly recommnded.

    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have not had a chance to use this product yet but do have many other Milwaukee power tools and expect the quality to be just as excellent. The only concerns I have is with trying to determine what nails to buy for this nail gun. Nothing that I have found states compatibility with this gun.

I am very pleased with this item. The only problem I had was finding

nails for it in smaller packs. I finally found some at Home Depot.

    Fantastic Tool
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this tool a couple of weeks ago to install hardwood floors in hard to reach places. After that I used it to install the base. I’ve hit over 500 nails so far without a misfire. I bought this when my groundbreaking new Porter&Cable nail gun started misfiring every second nail. It would be unfair for the Milwaukee tool to be compare with Porter&Cable tool as the Porter&Cable nail gun was a major disappointment. Whereas the Milwaukee nail gun was an absolute joy to use.

    Lightweight and simple to use
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this nailer about 5 months ago, it is very light and has worked flawlessly on 1 to 2 1/2″ nails. The only thing I would add is a larger hook. You will need to use a pressure regulator as the depth of the nail will vary quite a bit if it runs straight off the compresser.

    Milweaukee beats Bostitch
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have been a Bostitch for as long as I have been in construction. Lately Bostitch has disappointed me and I have started looking for tools from other manufactures. I have rediscovered Milwaulkee and liking what I see. This particular nailer is light, quite, POWERFUL and simple to load, the latter is vital to me. Adding nails should not be a chore as Bostitch has changed to, the Milwaukee is simple and positive. I have yet to have a jam, really troublesome with end work. Overall this is a fantastic product at a tremenduce price.

  23. Kelley Nelson says:

    Powerful, consistent, light
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve used this nailer for a number of projects and it’s been brilliant.

Case in point – crown molding.

It’s light, which makes it a lot simpler to hold over your head while nailing off crown molding all day. The belt hook is also key if you need two hands to get the crown seated in just the right position before fastening it while you’re on a ladder.

After the install is done, you’ll appreciate the clean countersink hole that this nailer leaves. Some nailers leave a small lip, or an extra dent that takes extra sanding and filling work to hide. This gun just leaves a clean-edged hole and the no-mar tip works perfectly. The only time the tip can be a disadvantage is nailing into some tightly curved profiles. You have to be careful that the tip isn’t preventing the nose of the gun from being pressed fully against the work piece. (Then the nail may not be driven all the way in and countersunk.)

No problems using the Porter Cable angled nails that you find at local stores.

Loading was really slick once I found the small tab that helps to hold the nail pusher out of the way.

    My two gripes -

    1. They didn’t include a quick disconnect air fitting and the diameter of the fitting is a bit larger than most nailers sold at the mega-stores.

    2. The included bottle of pneumatic tool oil doesn’t seal well and can leak inside the case if you store it on its side.

  24. Robert McFair says:

    Awsome tool!

Speed, comfort and flawless operation all in one. First nailer I have ever owned or used. Lives up to all the review praise and then some. No, absoluely no, problems with this gun even in the hands of a novice carpenter.

This was my first pneumatic tool buy and (as a beginner) I found the 7140-21 very simple to load and use. Quality and durability are vital to me so I was willing to spend a small more. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Milwaukee tool in the future.

I like this gun!! I have use the bostitch and the porter cable end guns and i found this one to be the lightest and the easist to use The quality is everything that you would expect from Milwaukee. The trigger switch is sweet and the depth is simple to set. The belt clip is a fantastic addition for when your climbing ladders. I would refer to anyone in the field.

    As Excellent As It Gets
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this nailer after having terrible luck with other angled end nailers, so I approached using the Milwaukee 7140 with some trepidation. But I needn’t have. Right out of the box it performed flawlessly in installing hardwood flooring and in the asociated trim work. It is light in weight and very nicely balanced. I reckon its the best of it’s kind on the market. I recommend it highly

I was pleased when this arrived in that it came with the case. Solid construction, not heavy, and it works like a charm. I only need this for occasional work, not everyday. It’s more than what I need so this will last me for years. I reckon I’m partial to Milwaukee products now.

Simple to load, simple to use, lightweight yet rugged and durable so far after 60 days of use. I have yet to have a jam. I haven’t quite figured out the depth setting on the tool, but so far I’ve made changes using air pressure. I’ve been driving into 150 year ancient hemlock without a hint of sluggishness!

    Another Quality Milwaukee Tool

I found this to be a quality nailer. Excellent range on depth adjustment. Simple to load and open slide allows you see clearly see remaining nail supply. I have not experienced any jams after shooting over 100 nail sleeves of various sizes. The tool is light weight and comfortable to hold. The ability to direct the air exhaust and the belt hook are nice features. I was surprised that the tool did not come with a male hose fitting. Overall a fantastic value.
