Best Buy I’ve made in years!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’m not a professional carpenter, just a weekend handyman. For years, I’ve always done all my building projects with hammer and nails and chose that it was time to buy a nail gun. Decisions abound…which type? Pneumatic or cordless? I finally made my choice based on the facts that (a) a excellent compressor and a excellent nail gun were going to cost about the same as a cordless nail gun and (b) I would probably not use the nail gun as much if I had to haul out an air compressor every time I used it. So I chose to buy a cordless nail gun. Once that choice was made, then it was time to pick the brand of nail gun. Paslode has a excellent reputation, and I basically picked it on that basis. I do not regret that at all. The nail gun arrived, I bought fuel cells and nails, and fired it up. Takes less than 5 minutes after opening the case before you’re driving nails. It drives the nails forcefully, and the depth adjustment on it works as advertised. Sure, there are some things to get used to. This nail gun requires a firm pressing of the gun against the work to engage the interlock; that is a mild annoyance sometimes, but is seldom a real issue. Thus far, no misfires, after 6 hours of use. I’m in the middle of building a clubhouse for my kids, and this nail gun has been a lifesaver. It is genuinely FUN to use, and an brilliant item. Maybe it wouldn’t be suitable for professional crews, but for us weekend handymen, it’s perfect.
Works Fantastic

i bought this nailer for my second garage project. When I built my first garage I bought a Porter Cable air nailer which worked fantastic but it was heavy and the hose was a pain. I had tried a friends Paslode recenty so chose that with my new house and the need to build another garage I would go cordless. I am glad I did. This thing works perfectly, no cords and I reckon it is lighter than my ancient air nailer. It kept up with me no problem and I got nearly all my framing done before using up my first tank of fuel. Long term I don’t know how it will hold up but so far it is awesome.
Freedom to go about

I wanted a framing nailer for personal projects so spent considerable time researching on-line at various sites. I finally called a friend who is a builder and questioned what he used and recommended. He said he owns and uses several different brands of nailers, but when he gets busy on a site he always reaches for his Paslode first. Based mainly on the recommendation of a professional, I bought a used Paslode. My first use has been framing two new rooms in my basement. Not having to share an enclosed space with my compressor or stretch an air line from outside was well-known. The Paslode was quick, convenient, and worked like a charm. It’s a small thing, but the squared body of the engine lets you lay it down on the floor and the handle remains upright and simple to quickly grab when you need it. When I first got it I suffered a few misfires and slow operation, so I gave it a thorough cleaning per the operators manual. The process was relatively simple if you follow the book and the difference was immediate. It doesn’t bump fire, but will spit out fasteners as quick as I can pull the trigger. The one thing I did not read about in any of my research are the fumes. Because it uses butane fuel the exhaust has a distinct odor to it. In an enclosed environment like my basement you really start to notice it after awhile, and it gave me a slight headache until I opened a window. Bottom line: I do not regret my choice to buy the Paslode as my only framing nailer. All my other nailers (Hitachi coil roofing, Bostitch and Senco end nailers, and Bostitch brad nailer)are air nailers, but for the convenience and ease of use I like just being able to grab my Paslode and drive a few nails without all the setup of compressor and air lines first. Now I’m looking for more projects so I have an excuse to use it
Light, reliable, rugged, convenient.

Bought one last fall and have fired several cases of nails through it on an extensive garage remodel and several other projects with no malfunctions even in temperatures down to 20 degrees and after dropping 15 feet on to concrete a couple times. The air powered nailers we have barely get used anymore. Setting up a compressor and dragging air hoses around crowded job sites and climbing on icy staging are things of the past and I like the combo rafter/belt hook. Takes ten seconds to pull from my truck and bring into action. Not for high production framing but if you carry all your tools in a tightly (un)organized compact truck and need a do it all nailgun this is it.
Cold weather nailer
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I’m a professional, and can’t recommend this as a production nailer. And in really cold weather it doesn’t have the power for framing. But, I needed a nailer for nailing plywood in a freezer at 0-5 below. This wasn’t a walk-in freezer. It’s three times the size of a football field. So I nailed a lot of plywood and 1 by 6s, driving probably 200,000 nails. With the fork-lift traffic, hoses and cords were out of the question. This tool performed admirably, though I recommend sticking to the Paslode nails. The will-fits tend to jam up.
Fantastic must have tool.

The Paslode 900420 Cordless nail is a must have tool for framing and fence building. Works fantastic. Supplies are simple to find. Takes a lickin and keeps on firing.
Not for High Altitudes
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Nice product, but not for high elevations. Building in the high country of Colorado (9,000′) found the gun to be less than useful at anything longer than a 2 3/8″ nail. Anything longer than that requires additional nail setting with your hammer. (The “thin air” up here just doesn’t have the kick needed to drive anything longer) If these were hand-drives, that would be no huge deal, but as many know, gun nails can be hard to set (they like to bend!!). This won’t effect a lot of users, but it is worth mentioning to those who may buy the gun to use at altitude.
Fantastic tool
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’m getting a small long in the tooth for construction projects but I chose to build a new garage anyway. I struggled with which nailer to buy so I could avoid the tendon strains and sore muscles from using a hammer. Dragging a compressor around did not appeal to me. It was between the Hitachi and the Paslode. Too many terrible reviews on the Hitachi. I bought the Paslode and have run a half box each of 3″ and 2″ nails through it. The depth adjustment is terrific and simple. You can drive as many nails as you want as quickly as you can press the gun into position to fire. I wish the magazine could hold more nails. Every framing gun that I have used was always a small heavier than you want and this one is no exception. I am glad I bought the nailer and my garage walls are standing because of it. Can’t wait for the trusses to arrive.
Solid performance, simple to use, exceeded my expectations
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this framing nailer for a small (12×16) cabin we were building in the Adirondaks. Since we had to haul everything up to the site the lack of need for compressor and airhoses was attractive. I am a excellent rough carpenter but not a professional. I had never used a power nailer before.
We used the framing nailer for about 5000 nails over a two-week period and had only one jam, easily cleared. It was extremely reliable and had sufficient power for all our purposes. Some of the complaints about the speed of nailing were not an issue for us since we aren’t a high-speed operation. There was no point at which the rapidity of firing was a problem for us. Toe-nailing was a bit of an issue but it was mainly a matter of getting used to aiming the thing to place the nail where you want it to go. Once I had the hang of it I really liked toenailing with the framing hammer.
I liked the fact that the wood would not go when nailing or toenailing. The Paslode nails worked flawlessly, didn’t try any other brand. I had no problem with the depth of the nails. Any need to change the depth was easily adjusted. No problem with misfiring. The belt hook and rafter hook was extremely useful. Fantastic feature. Liked the safety of the fact that it would not fire until the tip was depressed and then the trigger pulled in sequence. If you hold the trigger down and depress the tip it won’t fire. We had no accidental firing. Cleaning after the two weeks took about ten minutes and the instructions were very explicit.
I am very pleased with this tool.
Buyer Beware of Altitude
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Let the Buyer Beware: It is not obvious until you receive your Paslode nailer that it is not to be used above 4500 ft (according to technical support) and the box says 5000 ft. We live in Colorado at 7500 feet and of course the gun is Dead ON Arrival – no fault to the gun. And then you can’t return it for a refund because it runs on gas … so let’s just say that this was a VERY disappointing buy from Amazon, who should be able to state very clearly the limitations of every product sold.
My Terrible – but a nice gift for someone near sea level….
Wish I bought it earlier…
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Just finished a shed project with this nailer… I wished I had bought it earlier! In a previous shed project, I’ve used a power actuated hammer (the one that fires the .22 blanks) to place hardened (expensive) nails into concrete block (the wall along the side of the shed is a 6′ concrete block wall to which I attached the shed). On this project, I was able to use the Paslode nailer to do the same job much more quickly and I used the common framing nails (which drove straight and right thru the 2×4′s and into the concrete block. I like using my P&C brad/end nailers, but I need to drag around the compressor. With the Paslode, I just grab the case (very light weight) and go. Saves time, saves money. Can’t get much better than that.
Fantastic for my project
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
So far this nailer has worked out fantastic.
I’ver never used a framing nailer before, so I have nothing to compare it to. Im currently framing some new partition walls in my basement and I plot on adding some additonal decking outside.
The only thing feature that hasn’t lived up to its specs is the amount of nails that it will drive on one fuel cell. It seems like it has only driven a small more than half the amount stated. But, I’m not disappointed because the fuel cells are inexpensive enough.
I highly recommend it to any noncontractor that has a relatively light use for a framiung nailer. The cost to buy it makes more sense than renting a nailer and a compressor for more than a few days. Especially if you may have a future use for it.
Simply cannot compete with a compressor driven nailgun
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Not nearly as quick or powerful as a regular nailgun. It leaves nails sitting proud when firing into engineered wood or ancient ancient-growth framing, like we have so much of here in San Francisco. At certain angles (toe nailing)the Paslode is frustratingly hard to fire. Depending on the angle, I sometimes have to press with two hands, which is far from convenient. It sometimes will go the stud that I am trying to nail because I have to press so hard to actuate the thing.
I own this gun and the Paslode angled end nailer. The end nailer is one of the best tools ever invented, the framing nailer leaves a bit to be desired for commercial work.
On the upside, it seems to be very durable, and I’m pleased with the performance of the batteries and the fuel cells. It just doesn’t have the power, speed or finesse of a regular nailer. Portability is its main feature.
Who knows? Maybe the one that I own is bunk, because the majority of reviewers here-and there are a lot of them-seem to like it.
Generally pretty excellent.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Rented one from a chain super center (the orange one), and have no regrets. In fact, if I had needed it beyond the one job, I probably would’ve returned it straight away and just bought one. It worked reliably for the day. Battery life was excellent (not sure if it was fully charged, made it through a few hundred nails over about 8 hours from the time we started working to the time we finished), and was still on the original fuel cell when we finished up.
If you already have an air compressor, you might as well buy a compressed-air nailer. But if you don’t, or you’re working in a spot where an air compressor would be either really inconvenient or impossible, it’s not a terrible deal.
The only issue I found was that sometimes, even pressed down all the way, the gun wouldn’t fire, no matter how hard the gun was pressed into the wood. Backing off all pressure and pressing the gun all the way down again would generally do it.
So simple to use

8 years and still going strong
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
As a contractor by trade, I have nothing but excellent things to say about this gun. First and foremost, it is the logical replacement to air powered for obvious and already stated reasons: no compressor and hose. It does misfire on occasion but i’m sure it is purely because i have not cleaned or oiled it in 8 years. I know, I know…what a slug. If there is a complaint it is due to Paslode going to primarily all round head nails the last couple of years. The clipped head nails used to drive sure and deep every time. When i switch out the round for some leftover clipped heads, it goes from inconsistent to sure fire every time so it is not my imagination. But, i cannot even buy the clipped head nails anymore from the local Le Depot de Home.
Maybe i’ll break down and really do the required maintenance. It will probably help, huh?
Yes, buy it!

I use a framing nailer & compressor to build shipping crates, brace goods inside trailer for trucking, building walls, decks, etc. I bought this nailer for the smaller jobs (like crate building) instead of hauling out the compressor set up. I am more than impressed, it took half the time for this job because of the set up & clean up time. The tool works remarkably well. But, i did read through the manual and other reviews, noting that it is vital to depress the contact tip fully before pulling the trigger.
.
For the larger framing job like nailing off a floor or on a job that is going to take all day, i would probably use the compressor set up, but this is a fun portable tool and I like it.
fantastic item

my husband likes this item, he uses it often and shows it off even more often. he is a carpenter and said it makes the work go so much quicker.
Paslode 900420 Cordless Framing Nailer
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The nailer is the greatest. I use it all the time whenever I have something to nail and I like it. I tend not to use it on a regular basis so I have found that it is safer and better if you remove the fuel cell. The fuel cells tend to loose gas if left in the gun for long periods of time. I bought the Paslode, the generation before this one and I found the gas cartridges seemed to last a lot longer. I guess this is the way things usually go when a company wants to sell more of something. Generally when I go to use it, the battery is always low on charge, so I need to charge it up. I like the gun the most because it doesn’t go the material that you are nailing, like hitting with a hammer does. Remodeling is a snap. One problem I have noticed is the nails don’t stay in the wood that well. It could be that they are not long enough or the coating is not that excellent. Overall I wouldn’t ever be without my Pasload.
My Favorite Tool
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’m an instant Paslode fan after using this one. It’s a very reliable and simple to use/maintain tool. Makes framing pretty simple, with no hoses or cables attached, and quite powerful.
The only downside is some tendonitis from overuse (but I can’t stop using it, it’s fun), and if you’re buying outside the US it’s ridiculously expensive. Not a problem for most of you I guess.
fantastic gun for remote projects
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
First, the price at Lowe’s is $349.00; that’s better than what I’ve just noticed on the web. And—check with your Lowe’s—some stores offer a 10% discount for Veterans!
The only problem that I’ve found is the fuel cartridges. There is an expiration date printed on the bottom of the fuel cannisters. I still have not found one that’s valid and not expired.
The tool is light in weight and offers a range of nail sizes.
The price is the killer plus the fuel expense is the con, but for the portibility; it’s perfect.
Fantastic nailer for the casual user
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Pros:
Convienence of a cordless nailer.
More nails per load than others.
Honestly robust design and construction.
Paslode has been doing this for a long time.
Belt clip is well designed but bring a stout belt (its heavy).
Cons:
The depth of nailing is inconsistent.
Fuel cartridges are much cheaper at Home Depot.
Have to wait for charge to reload after a 1-4 nails are set.
Battery life far less than advertised.
Nail depth adjustment is VERY hard to use.
Battery takes a long time to recharge.
Probably not contractor grade (but maybe all cordless nailers are this way)
Overall I’m very glad I bought this tool.

This is my second Framing Nailer. It has been so sucessful on jobs for the pass 5 years, I bought one for a friend of mine
Fantastic Piece of Equipment

This is the second Paslode that I have had. They are fantastic for framing and other jobs. One problem I have had with both is that they jam quite often, especially with the smaller size nails. The longer nails seem to work better.

I have owned Paslode cordless guns for years. I would recommend this gun without exception. I bought this one for my son, so he will not borrow mine all the time.
Buy It
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Another must have tool. Stay away from the other cordless framers on the market, none can compare to the PASLODE. Fantastic for those smaller jobs when you don’t want to pull out the compressor and hose. You’ll find it simple to use, lightweight and plenty of power. Be sure to keep it clean. Recently framed an entire 20 x 30 garage with this gun just for kicks to see if it was up to the task. Worked like a charm. If only they made a coil version!!
still the best
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Paslode has been making cordless framing guns for over 20 years and they’re still the best. this cordless nailer is still more powerful than the Hitachi or the Max. it’s more distress to use both a battery and a fuel cell, than just a fuel cell, (as with the Hitachi or the Max), but the power is worth it. also, if you live above 5000 feet above sea level, you’ll need Paslode’s high-altitude fuel cells; (at high altitude, there’s less oxygen, which affects combustion). i really like the feel and lightness of the Hitachi, but i still prefer this one.
Everybody Wants To Use It

Just like the end nailer, everybody wants to borrow it.
